The New Year has begun at pace for RCS Recycling Ltd.
Here are a few examples of recent activity, most of which seem to include filing cabinets.
Bristol
We recently collected 600 redundant light fittings and hazardous fluorescent tubes from a long-standing customer in Bristol, following their upgrade to energy-efficient LED lighting.
This partially hazardous waste collection required careful handling.
All redundant lighting units were recycled sustainably, while the fluorescent tubes were processed by our trusted strategic service partners.
These bulbs were safely degassed and treated in full compliance with Environment Agency (EA) regulations.
As standard, we issued a Certificate of Secure Disposal, along with the mandatory EA Waste Transfer Notes, ensuring full compliance and clear audit records for our customer.
Brighton, East Sussex
In Brighton, we removed 30 redundant filing cabinets that were occupying valuable office storage space.
All confidential paperwork was logged, removed, and securely destroyed in full accordance with GDPR regulations, with complete documentation provided. The metal cabinets were then recycled sustainably, freeing up usable office space for our client.
Wiltshire
Working across multiple sites for Wiltshire Council, we collected 259 empty swimming pool chemical containers.
Each container was professionally processed, washed out, and the plastic material recycled sustainably and returned to the supply chain, ensuring both environmental responsibility and regulatory compliance.
Derby, Derbyshire
A customer in Derby had a full office of furniture and equipment stored in a local self-storage facility at a considerable monthly cost.
RCS Recycling collected all materials, donating a significant portion to a local hospice.
The remaining furniture and equipment were passed to a long-standing local up-cycler we have worked with for over 20 years, ensuring maximum reuse and minimal waste.
Windsor, Berkshire (Council Project)
In December, the local council near our Windsor base commissioned RCS Recycling to clear an entire building containing redundant furniture and a substantial volume of outdated confidential documents.
This multi-week project involved:
- Sustainable recycling of furniture
- Secure boxing, removal, and destruction of documents in line with GDPR
- Issuance of Waste Transfer Notes and Certificates of Secure GDPR Disposal
The cleared building is now being refurbished and reintroduced to the commercial rental market.
Central London
Office Building – 28th Floor Offices Clearance
On Wednesday 7 January, we completed a large-scale office clearance on the 28th floor of a central London office building.
The project required a 12-person RCS team and three 18-tonne removal vehicles.
A full floor of office furniture was removed, enabling the space to be restored to commercial letting status efficiently and safely.
